Wildlife Art

Before I picked up photography, it was fine art that sparked my passion for wildlife. I specialised in creating photorealistic renditions of animals using graphite pencils and coloured pencils. Later on, as I can began to draw from self-taken images, I began to integrate the wildlife with fantastic environments inspired by the animals’ real-world habitats and my experience observing and photographing them. Other than graphite and coloured pencils, I am proficient in a variety of other traditional visual art mediums including watercolour, acrylic, and oil paint, relief printing, and ceramic sculpture.

Peregrine Falcon (2025)

This piece is inspired by my close-up counters with the Peregrine Falcon, which is the fastest bird species in the world, and my favourite species.

Ruddy Kingfisher (2023)

The mangrove setting in this piece draws from the mangrove habitat at Berlayer Creek where I encountered the Ruddy Kingfisher. Berlayer Creek is one of the very few surviving mangrove areas in Singapore, and possibly the only one on the southern coast of the island.

Oriental Darter (2022)

The Oriental Darter is often seen hunting for fish in the disused granite quarries across Singapore and Pulau Ubin. The setting in this piece is inspired by the unique aesthetic created by the steep cliff faces and the trees that intersperse the exposed rock.

Buffy Fish Owl (2022)

The Buffy Fish Owl is one of my favourite species in Singapore and I tried to elevate my depiction of this charismatic bird by playing with scale and juxtaposition to create a surreal setting.

Grey-headed Fish Eagle (2021)

This piece featuring the Grey-headed Fish Eagle draws from the bare branches of dead trees that this eagle often perches on, offering a superior vantage point from which to hunt.
